In May this year, Birmingham held their annual Pride event to celebrate all those in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Sock and Buskin were honoured to be approached by part of the team working with Balfour Beatty Vinci on their section of the parade to help them do something in memory of Kemal. Kemal is a dear friend of Laura’s who sadly passed away at the end of 2023, the two of them having worked together recently within the social value groups in the construction industry.
As soon as she was asked, Laura immediately jumped at the opportunity to still give Kemal a presence in this year’s Pride celebrations. With the permission of his family, she designed a clack fan with a rainbow pattern that held a dedication to his drag persona, Vanity Flair.
These fans were then printed and given out at the parade, with many people going home with new memories created by Vanity Flair.
Merchandise and product placement is always a great way to spread a message. Sock and Buskin are very happy to have been able to spread the message of Vanity Flair to all those who attended Birmingham Pride and will continue to spread that message in the future.
